In the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings published this week, the University of Tampere was again placed in the 201–250 bracket. Tampere University of Technology (TUT) moved up to the 401–500 bracket from the 501–600 bracket.
A total of 1,258 universities worldwide were assessed by Times Higher Education (THE) against 13 performance indicators that are grouped into five areas. The University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and Stanford University took the top three spots. The University of Tampere was again ranked third among the nine Finnish universities that were assessed by THE. The highest-ranking universities in Finland are the University of Helsinki and Aalto University.
The University of Tampere achieved its best score in the number of citations where it was placed 106th in the top decile. The University of Tampere was ranked above average in all the categories.
TUT again received its highest score in the category of industry income, although the score fell slightly from last year. TUT climbed up the ranking in all the four categories, which are research, education, citations and international outlook.
